Price hike shocks 'unnecessary'

Tynwald approves 50 per cent rise in sewerage rate

An MHK plans talks with Manx Utility Authority chiefs to help avoid further price hike shocks to the general public.

Chris Thomas was speaking after Tynwald approved a 50 per cent increase in the sewerage rate.

 

After a two hour debate, the move was supported by 20 votes to 12.

 

But Mr Thomas says the constant ‘drip, drip’ of increased charges is unnecessary.
