Take the plunge at Ramsey on New Year’s Day

by isleofman.com 2nd December 2015
Ramsey RNLI is once again hosting Ramsey’s New Year Chilly Dip, which unsurprisingly will take place on Friday 1st January 2016. Back on board and once again dipping a toe in the water is Bunscoill Rhumsaa, Ramsey’s Primary School. All registration and sponsorship money raised will go to Ramsey RNLI and the children of Bunscoill Rhumsaa.

Registration will be from 10am at Ramsey RNLI Station on South Promenade, Ramsey, with the dip itself taking place promptly at 11am from Ramsey RNLI slipway. On the day members of Ramsey RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crew will be hand to give safety advice. They will also be on the beach and in the water looking after the safety of dippers and spectators alike. Dippers should come along prepared with suitable warm clothing to change into afterwards.

Those prudent souls not bold enough to enter the water are encouraged to come along and support the intrepid Dippers with a warm smile. Everyone is invited to come along and have fun.

A small registration donation of ?2 per person is suggested and Dippers are also encouraged to raise some sponsorship money for the RNLI charity and Bunscoill Rhumsaa.

Registration and sponsorship forms are available from Ramsey RNLI Shop, Bunscoill Rhumsaa, Ramsey Town Library as well as Ramsey RNLI Station. Alternatively you can just turn up and register on the day, but please note that a responsible adult must accompany and sign in young people under the age of 16 years.

Around 45 plucky souls braved the icy waves of Ramsey Bay in windy and miserable conditions for the 2015 Ramsey New Year Chilly Dip. ?727.50 was raised with donations on the day and sponsorship money.
