Christmas Trees are Child’s Play at New Ramsey Christmas Tree Park

by isleofman.com 30th November 2015

When it comes to inspiration for new ideas, James Graham of landscaping specialists Groundcare, doesn’t have to look too far. Groundcare’s Ramsey Christmas Tree Park, which opens to the public on Monday 23rd November, was the brainchild of his 7 year old daughter, Connie.

When Groundcare moved to new premises on Gladstone Park Industrial Estate in early 2014, the company set up an on-site garden to showcase the company’s scope of services and products. This gave Connie the idea of creating a seasonal Christmas tree garden, an idea which the team have fully realised, to say the least!

Ramsey Christmas Tree Park is stocked with a great selection of real trees, including traditional Norway Spruce and ‘non-drop’ Nordman Fir varieties. Groundcare have thought of every step of the trees’ festive journey, from home delivery and milled trunks for easy fitting and self-watering stands available to buy, to a free recycling service when Christmas is over.

The park is not your average Christmas tree outlet, in fact, it’s something of a winter wonderland. Inspired by Connie’s enthusiasm, the initial project “snowballed,” says James. Setting the scene are festive lights, Christmas music, and snow drifts created from the same material used by Pinewood Studios for snowy scenes. There is plenty of free parking at the site (close to Isle of Man Post Office on the Gladstone Park estate), which is open Monday – Saturday, 10am-8pm, and on Sundays, 11am-5pm.

“Connie has always been full of bright ideas,” says James, “and this one just seemed to escalate. How can you say no to such enthusiasm, especially at this time of year? Connie has been creatively involved in the project, designing signs for the park, and has shown real entrepreneurial skills every step of the way!”.

“We like to think that together, we’ve created an attractive and atmospheric place where people can shop, as a family, for their perfect Christmas tree, and let us take care of every detail”.
