The club’s annual Night at the Races was a great success with 50 members and friends having a fun evening. John Morrison of Morrison’s Photos provided the evening’s programme, Kirsten Hall our social secretary co-ordinated the fish or sausage/chips supper from Port Jack Chippy, Jan Gaskill and Fran Shacklock ran a very profitable raffle and the Tote table was expertly controlled by David Bufton, Jackie Chinn and Jan Watson.
The nine races were sponsored by companies and individuals and the expected profit after expenses will be around ?1,500.Thanks to everyone who supported the event in any way – you are appreciated.
The Albany Auxesia Junior Open tournament was concluded on Saturday with all age group finals being completed. The sight of 34 very young children competing on the four mini tennis courts indoors was quite impressive. The event was divided into beginners and main draw and parents, grandparents & officials witnessed some excellent tennis. Congratulations to Ian Watson (referee) and all the umpires who endured over 2hrs standing on the cold floor! You deserve a medal. I’ll give you all the results from U8s next week as it was such a good event.
