Enjoy lunch with John Challis, one of the nation’s greatest comedy actors, best known as Boycie in BBC1’s “Only Fools and Horses”.
In this one-off show the national treasure will reveal secrets from the set with stories and anecdotes from his dazzling career.
Having worked with some of the biggest names in show business, he’ll be spilling the beans about “Only Fools and Horses” co-stars like Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst and friends and fellow performers like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Oliver Reed and George Best. He’ll also recall tales from his time in Dr Who, Coronation Street and other TV classic
John’s tales come from his extensive and surprisingly full career. There was life both before and after Boycie; Challis also starred with David Jason as a northern in the classic comedy Open All Hours for example.
Challis can clearly spin a yarn and has a warm engaging voice - as well as a famous cockney twang and an infamous Boycie laugh…
The event concludes with guests having the opportunity to meet John, have a picture and get signings which is, in some way, the highlight of the lunch.
John Wannenburgh of the IoM Sporting and Dining Club: “Further to our lunches with Kenny Dalglish and most recently with Manchester United stars Bryan Robson and Norman Whiteside, we felt the time was ripe to present a different type of personality – and we think we’ve struck gold with John Challis!"
Adrian Higgins, Director of Specsavers Opticians Isle of Man said: "Specsavers is once again delighted to be supporting this ‘Sporting & Dining Club’ event. The lunch is a unique insight into the world of a professional and determined actor with over fifty years’ experience on how to make it. It will be an absolute treat for fans of Only Fools with stories that we may never have heard before – I’m really looking forward to it!"
The lunch will take place from 12.00pm, on Friday 26th February 2016 at the Palace Hotel & Casino in Douglas.
