Local pipers are joining in a worldwide event this Saturday.

Bagpipes for Peace will deliver a message of solidarity and hope in the face of terrorist activity, playing Amazing Grace at exactly 3pm. The initiative was started by French pipers.

Ellan Vannin Pipes and Drums will parade through Strand Street and play the hymn outside M&S.

Pipe Major Paul Davenport said: 'If playing a very small part in an international event like this can send out any kind of message of the solidarity of good people, and defiance in the face of terrorism, then you have to play your part.'
