New law for road races

by isleofman.com 24th November 2015

A bill designed to alter legislation covering road racing in the Isle of Man is due to get its first reading in the House of Keys today (Tuesday).

John Houghton, the member with responsibility for highways in the Department of Infrastructure, is moving the proposed legislation, which will be the first time it has been updated in more than 30 years.

One of the biggest changes will be to relax restrictions on Sunday racing. Mr Houghton says it is important to protect the island's road racing heritage, which brings in millions of pounds annually, by updating it to meet the demands of the modern world.
