To aid its efforts to grow the economy, the Department of Economic Development is advertising for two key roles, a Director of Marketing and a Director of Finance and Development.
Minister for Economic Development Laurence Skelly MHK commented:
‘The best way to maintain effective and affordable public services is to grow our economy and so generate additional Government income. These roles are vital to help us to do so.
‘The Director of Marketing will be responsible for leading our marketing activities to position the Isle of Man internationally as a leading small international business centre. This work will help us to attract the businesses, skilled workers and visitors we need to grow our economy.
‘The Director of Finance and Development responsibilities include managing our financial assistance schemes, including the new ?50m Enterprise Development Scheme. This work will help us to focus our support where it can deliver the greatest growth in terms of jobs and Government income.
‘I can confirm these posts are within existing budgets. Indeed, since the Department was created we have grown our income – particularly through our highly successful Ship and Aircraft Registries as well as the TT – so that the Department is now doing more than ever to support economic growth while costing less to the taxpayer. Also our resources are being focused on where they will have most impact in terms of growing the economy and raising Government income.’
The Director of Finance and Development will also provide financial advice to the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture, avoiding the cost of a separate finance director post.
Details of the Director of Marketing role can be found now on the Isle of Man Government’s Public Sector Vacancies site at https://www.jobtrain.co.uk/iomgovjobs/vacancies.aspx . The Director of Finance and Development role will go live later this week.
