Douglas RNLI lifeboat was launched yesterday evening (10:46pm on Tuesday 17th November) at the request of Douglas Coastguard following a person being reported as missing.
The RNLI all-weather lifeboat Sir William Hillary was launched under the command of volunteer Coxswain Neal Corran to conduct a shoreline search southwards from Douglas as far as Wallberry on the Marine Drive and back.
On their return to Douglas the lifeboat was then asked to conduct a search of the Douglas shoreline as far as Onchan Head and back while a helicopter, RESCUE 936 based out of Caernarfon Airport, which had been scrambled to assist took over the search of the Marine Drive area.
The lifeboat having completed its search of the Douglas shoreline was asked to then search the Douglas outer harbour. While searching the outer harbour area the lifeboat was stood down at 1.17am under advice from Douglas Coastguard.
