Increase in minimum wage

The minimum wage will increase from ?6.65 per hour to ?7 per hour from January 1 2016.


Tynwald has approved the increase for workers aged 21 or over. The minimum wage for workers aged 18 to 20 will be increased from ?6.40 to ?6.65 per hour, and for those over compulsory school age but under 18 to ?5.40 per hour. The minimum wage for workers aged 17 is to be abolished.


Meanwhile, the accredited training rate for workers aged 18 and over is to be increased from ?5.24 to ?6.65.
