Public servants will pay to park

by isleofman.com 18th November 2015

Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne's bid to introduce car parking charges in central Douglas for public servants has been approved by Tynwald.

He returned to the parliament this month for a combined vote after the Legislative Council blocked the move at the previous sitting.

Mr Gawne had said free parking for Tynwald members, civil servants and the judiciary, while the general public had to pay to park, was 'indefensible'. His motion carried with 24 votes for and eight against.
