The Association of International Life Offices (AILO) held its Annual General Meeting in London on Tuesday 3rd November. At the meeting the Association’s new Chairman, Mr Bob Pain, was elected. Bob replaces Nils Liljeberg who stood down as Chairman.

Currently the Managing Director of Investors Trust Assurance, Bob’s experience within the financial services industry spans over 25 years. He had held the role of AILO’s Deputy Chairman since 2012.

Formally accepting the position, Mr Pain said: “I am delighted to be elected as AILO’s new Chairman. I look forward to ensuring that AILO remains current and relevant to its Members’ needs, focusing on the important global issues facing our industry.”

Alan Morgan-Moodie, AILO’s CEO, said: “Bob will be an excellent Chairman of the Association. Many thanks to Nils Liljeberg, on behalf of the Membership, for all his hard work and support to AILO.” Mr Liljeberg remains a member of AILO’s Management Committee, in the role of Immediate Past Chairman.

Voting also took place at the AGM for a number of other Management Committee positions: Fabrice Sauvignon of La Mondiale as Deputy Chairman, as well as Xavier Nevez of Zurich Eurolife and Mark Callow of Old Mutual International as Members’ Representatives. Jeffrey More of LCL International Life Assurance was re-elected as Treasurer.

Also at the meeting the 2015 James Ball Memorial Award was given to John Beaney, AILO’s Legal & Regulatory Executive, in recognition of his long-standing commitment to AILO and the industry. The James Ball Memorial Award was instigated by AILO in memory of James Ball, a founder of the international industry and AILO, who died suddenly in May 2005. This annual award is made to the individual who has, in the opinion of AILO’s Members, made a significant contribution to the international and cross-border life industry.
