The club hosted another successful Sponsors Lunch on Wednesday to say thank you for the support the club receives through for tournaments and banner rentals, fro a wide variety of companies. In welcoming the guests, Club President, Bryan Sharp, said the club faced annual expenses of approximately ?30,000 for electric, oil, rates, clubhouse and grounds maintenance, coaching, equipment, affiliation fees etc. Without the generous support of the companies present and others these outgoings could not be sustained. This is why the club holds the lunch each year as a token of appreciation. He mentioned the next event at the club – The Night at the Races on Friday 20 November– and said” If you have never put ?1 on a pig to win, you haven’t lived”.

An excellent lunch was provided and served by Jan Gaskill, Fran Shacklock, Barbara McNeill and Hilary Power. Chairman, Stuart Colligon, thanked them on behalf of the club and guests. The IOLTA Mixed Doubles Winter league commenced this week with Albany B travelling to Ramsey with the result going in Ramsey’s favour 5 sets to 2 with rain stopping play. Albany’s team was Bridget Stewart/Atchara Holms/ Anthony Gullan/ Nerijus Gricevictus with Bridget and Atchara winning the 2 sets in the women’s doubles.

The Auxesia Junior Open tournament starts on Saturday with play from 9am. All players will be sent their 1st match time by e-mail There is a particularly good entry of 22 in the under 8 event. The weather forecast isn’t good for the weekend but the indoor court will be utilised wherever possible.
