A silent auction gets underway at the Family Library today (Thursday), with a selection of great items up for grabs.
The auction, in which people can make sealed bids for the various items on offer, runs until November 30.
Librarian in charge Mary Cousins said: ‘This is something new we are doing, to raise funds for the Family Library.
‘We have already had some great lots donated for the auction, but we’re also hoping to receive more donations during the course of the event.
‘If anyone has anything they want to donate, they can get in touch with us on 640650.’
The lots are on display at the library and can also be viewed at a special page created on the library’s website www.familylibrary.im
Anyone wishing to make a bid can do so by writing down the name and code number of the item they are bidding for, along with their own name and contact details, placing in a sealed envelope and delivering to the library.
Mary added: ‘Keep coming back to our website or calling into the library, as new items can go on offer right up to November 30.’
The bids will be opened at the end of November 30 and the successful participants will be contacted as soon as possible.
Another fundraising event is due to take place on November 21, running from 10.30am-4pm. There will be lots of events for all the family throughout the day. Library staff are also hoping that talented bakers in the community will donate cakes for a sale during the day.
