Praise for brave officer

by isleofman.com 12th November 2015

Police constable Saskia Baxter saved someone who had jumped into Ramsey harbour on Tuesday night - for the second time this year.

Her actions have been praised as 'fabulous, brave work' by Chief Constable Gary Roberts.

A 25 year old man jumped into the harbour at about 8.15pm. Assisted by fellow officer Mike Diamond, Constable Baxter entered the water with a life ring. The man was returned to dry land after 45 minutes and with the assistance of the Coastguard in an incident described by police as complex. He was taken to hospital and is said to have no lasting physical injury.

Earlier this year, Constable Baxter was nominated for a community award after rescuing another man who had also jumped into Ramsey harbour.
