Airline drops Stansted route

by isleofman.com 11th November 2015

Flybe has confirmed it is to end its Isle of Man-Stansted service.

The last Flybe flight between Ronaldsway and Stansted will operate on Saturday March 26 next year.

The airline's chief commercial officer Paul Simmons said: 'We have a disciplined approach to the routes we operate, which means we continually review our network. This is done not only to monitor where we can offer increased regularity on a given route but also where passenger numbers make a flight environmentally, as well as economically, harder to justify.

'As part of such a review, we have decided to cease operating the above route with effect from the end of the 2015-16 Winter season.'

A local travel agent has described the loss of the Stansted connection as 'devastating'.

Tony Lawrence of Regency Travel said: 'We had a list of names of people who were relying on this flight for next year. I'm very disappointed as it was a great service I used myself on numerous occasions. It's devastating news.'
