Anyone interested in finding out about careers in health or social care is invited to attend Employment and Skills 2015 at the Villa Marina on Thursday.
Representatives of the Department of Health and Social Care will be among the many employers on hand to answer questions, explain what qualifications are required and discuss future opportunities. DHSC staff will be there from the fields of midwifery, radiology, dietetics, podiatry, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, pathology, acute and community nursing.
Also attending the event will be lecturers from the nursing education programme which is provided locally in cooperation with the University of Chester. Recruitment for entry into the 2016 programme which leads to Bachelor of Nursing and Master of Nursing degrees in adult or mental health begins in January.
Minister for Health and Social Care, Howard Quayle MHK, said: “Serving the community in the caring professions can be a most rewarding career.
“I hope students from the Island’s secondary schools as well as others who may be considering a career change or looking for an opportunity to return to the workplace come along to learn about the many possible opportunities available.
“The Department is always looking to fill a wide variety of positions, and it is of great benefit to the community when we can inspire and recruit Manx residents.”
Minister Quayle urged: “Come to Employment and Skills 2015 and have a chat with our staff. It could open the door to a new and fulfilling career.”
Organised by the departments of Economic Development and Education and Children, the event is free to attend and takes place at the Villa Marina, Douglas on 12 November between 9am and 6pm.
Employment and Skills 2015 is the Isle of Man’s largest annual gathering of local employers, with representatives from a wide range of business sectors, including engineering and manufacturing, retail, IT, financial services, and from the public service.
