Fear of 'environmental disaster' in the north

by isleofman.com 11th November 2015

The potential effects of coastal erosion near the Point of Ayre will be raised in Tynwald next week.

Onchan MHK Peter Karran is calling in the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture to investigate continuing erosion he says could turn Wrights Pit East into an environmental disaster.

He wants DEFA to report back to Tynwald in March next year on the likelihood of waste or residue being released into the marine environment and the feasibility of transferring waste from the site to the incinerator in Douglas.
