Marown Badminton Club are delighted to announced that Microgaming has agreed be their sponsor.
The sponsorship will allow them to continue to grow and develop, creating an environment which encourages involvement of their existing members and enables expansion.
Microgaming are amongst the world’s foremost gaming software developers and are expanding their team here on the Island. Microgaming seek and give back to the local community in such areas as health, sport and education through their play it forward initiative. More information on this can be found here: http://www.microgamingplayitforward.co.uk/index.html.
In addition to the sponsorship, Marown Badminton club wouldn’t be the club it is today without the support and guidance received from Roy & Stella Corlett over the last 40 years. Last season Roy stepped down from his post as guru and finally put his badminton racket down.
Marown badminton club was originally called Boundary Harriers and was formed from Boundary Harriers Walking Club in 1974/75. The club was run from its base at the Memorial Hall in Union Mills. Roy and Stella were involved in both of these clubs and continued their involvement in 1986 when the badminton club moved to Marown School where it was re-named "Marown Badminton club”.
Once Roy stepped down, such was the enormity of the work he and Stella had been putting in over the years, it has taken a range of members of the club to carry out that work. Stella had been quietly behind the scenes undertaking many of the club roles and it mustn’t be forgotten that Roy & Stella and the continued support from their players and sponsors have made Microgaming Marown become the club it is today.
Microgaming Marown Badminton club are holding a “Night at the TT Races” on the 27th November at the Ascot Hotel in Douglas with guest commentator Roy Moore. The money raised from this will go towards the clubs development If you would like to attend this please contact marownbc_iom@outlook.com for more information.
