Hopes are sky high for Citywing Blackpool route in 2016!

by isleofman.com 5th November 2015
Citywing’s Blackpool route is going from strength to strength following its reopening in April this year, and the prospect of the town becoming an ‘enterprise zone’ has fuelled hopes to generate at least 10% more business through Blackpool in 2016.

Feedback shows that customers are very pleased with the punctual service received from Citywing, with 99.9% flight regularity achieved in the last three months across its route network. Citywing has dedicated staff at Blackpool Airport, where passengers can enjoy the use of facilities exclusive to Citywing as the only commercial operator at the airport.

The possibility of establishing Blackpool as an enterprise zone in the near future, with a focus on the energy sector, will no doubt be of benefit to Blackpool Airport as the terminal lies within the planned zone. The proposals, which include converting the current site into an energy studies college and building a new terminal closer to the runway, are something that Citywing would readily support and which pose an excellent proposition for its customers.

Citywing Managing Director David Buck said: ‘We are really pleased to be able to offer the only direct service between the Isle of Man and Blackpool, and we are delighted with the feedback we have received following the reinstatement of the route.

‘It was great for Citywing to be invited back to do business at Blackpool Airport, and since March we have made a real effort to improve upon the service. We are continuing to make improvements to our facilities at the airport, such as acquiring more space for the security area, so that we can provide passengers with the best possible experience and service.

‘We hope that next year will bring even more new business, particularly if plans for a Blackpool enterprise zone come to fruition, which could generate beneficial business links for the Island and offer a real boost to the local economy.’

Citywing’s ‘Blackpool Hopper’ fares between the Isle of Man and Blackpool start from just ?23.95 each way on selected flights, making it easier and more affordable for customers to visit the town and surrounding areas.
