November is going to be a very busy month for Albany members with several events needing help and/or support.
The Auxesia Junior Open which has events U8,U9 ,U10, U12 and U18 singles plus U12 and U18 doubles starts on 14 November with finals on 21st November. This is a final reminder to ALL junior players on the Island that entries close at 6pm on Tuesday 10 November. If you want to play doubles but don’t have a partner please ask Ian and he will find you one. Entry fee is ?3 per person per event. Entries to Ian Watson by e-mail ianwatsonpts@manx.net or put your entry in the white post box in the club room. We will also need some help with refreshments on Finals Day.
Next Wednesday 11 November the club hosts the annual lunch, in the club house, for all it’s sponsors, Life Members, Vice Presidents and the media. I need final numbers by the weekend so that Jan Gaskill who has, assisted by other members, organised a very tasty menu, will have final catering numbers. If anyone hasn’t replied to their invite yet please let me know if you wish to attend. You can phone 861497, return the invite slip or e-mail albanytennispr@manx.net.
A Night at the Races on 20 November will be the 3rd year the club has held this big fund raiser. I’m still looking for Race sponsors at ?50 a race and hopefully members are collecting owner (?5), trainer (?3) and jockey (?2) sponsors on their race sheet. If anyone wants a race sheet or wants to help in other ways by donating a raffle prize, helping with making tea/coffee etc - again please contact me or Kirsten hall.
Also the IOMLTA Winter League Mixed Doubles matches get under way on Saturday with our A team playing Castletown A away. Albany B start their campaign with a trip north to play Ramsey A. Good Luck to both teams – there is still some room in the trophy cabinet!
All club coaching for our juniors will re-start on Monday 9 November and any new members should check with Ian Watson to be sure of the time they should attend.
The club still has some Albany Auxesia shirts for sale. Contact me or any committee member if you want one.
