Hospice's Light Up for a Life & Pause for a Moment

by isleofman.com 4th November 2015
Hospice’s annual Light up a Life will be held this year on Sunday 6th December 2015 at 5.30pm – attendees are asked to note the slightly later time this year. The event will involve the switching on lights on a magnificent Christmas tree in the grounds of Hospice Isle of Man. This year in addition to the white lights there will be a limited edition of 100 blue lights which will be sold for minimum donation of ?50 each.

The Manx public are invited to sponsor a white or blue light on the tree in memory of a loved one, as a Christmas gift for a friend or family member or in celebration of a special anniversary or birthday.

Hospice will also be selling Dublin Crystal tree decorations at the event. As a one off there will be some lovely Dublin Crystal Rebecca House Christmas decorations too.

In addition this year there will be a short ceremony on Thursday 10th December in Regent Street, Douglas at the site of the Town Centre Christmas tree. The ceremony ‘Pause for a Moment’ will encourage the public to literally stop and pause for a short while to think about their loved ones. The event will commence at 7pm when the multi coloured lights will be switched off and white lights illuminated. The Mayor, Councillor Mrs Sara Hackman, J.P, accompanied Mayoress, Councillor Mrs Carol Malarkey, will welcome everyone. There will be poetry and some singing by the Hospice choir.

The public are then invited to walk to the nearby Hospice boutique where mulled wine and mince pies will be served from 7.15pm onwards.
