This year’s Employment and Skills event will be taking place at the Villa Marina, Douglas on Thursday 12th November between 9am and 6pm. The event offers residents the chance to find out more about career skills and employment opportunities in the Isle of Man.
Employment and Skills 2015 is a free event, hosted by the Department of Economic Development and the Department of Education and Children. It will provide an opportunity for job seekers and those considering career options to meet with a large number of employers from a variety of sectors.
Laurence Skelly MHK, Minister for the Department of Economic Development, commented:
‘The annual Employment and Skills event is moving from strength to strength, with a large number of employers attending from an extensive range of sectors demonstrating the diversity and strength of our economy.
‘The event forms part of our wider employment and skills strategy to open up career options for local residents and students as well as encouraging those currently without work to find new employment.’
Tim Crookall MLC, Minister for the Department of Education and Children, commented:
‘Students from the DEC’s five secondary schools will be attending the event as they consider their exam options and the careers that they may lead to. The event is great for raising awareness of the varied employment opportunities, education and skills training on the Isle of Man.
‘The event offers Isle of Man residents the chance to meet with local employers and discover what they expect from job applicants and what opportunities are available to them now and in the future.’
The event is the Isle of Man’s largest annual gathering of local employers, featuring representatives from a wide range of business sectors, including Engineering and Manufacturing, Retail, IT, Financial Services, Accountancy, Law and the Armed Forces.
There will also be a range of services for visitors to take advantage of including help with CV writing, interview skills and job search techniques. There will also be the opportunity to talk to a range of organisations that provide training.
