Isle of Man Archer Lesley Sleight shot her second Grand Master Bowman Classification Score of the year in her closing field event of the season.
Lesley won the Northern County Field Championships Lady American Flatbow Class and Rodger Sleight came third in the Gents Longbow Class.
Over 100 archers competed in the two day event held in Woolley, Yorkshire. On the Saturday archers shoot from unmarked (unknown) distances and on the Sunday from marked (known) distances. Target distances range from 5 to 50 metres with faces from 20cm diameter to 80cm diameter. World Archery use similar course lay-outs for World and European Field Championships.
At present the Isle of Man does not have a World Archery Field Course. This makes training for competitions difficult. Despite this Lesley is ranked number one in the UK for Ladies American Flatbow.
