The House of Keys seat vacated by Brenda Cannell earlier this month will be fought over by seven candidates.

Mrs Cannell resigned after the sudden death of her husband. She had been an MHK for almost 20 years.

The by-election takes place next month, less than a year before the General Election in September 2016.

The seven candidates are Noble's Hospital nurse Clare Bettison, shipping company boss Kurt Buchholz, freelance copywriter Richard Falk, ex-Douglas councillor Jon Joughin, company director John McBride, teacher Geraldine O'Neill and Cat Turner, who is the Liberal Vannin candidate.
