He joins Appleby, one of the world’s largest providers of offshore legal, fiduciary and administration services, after working with Standard Bank in Jersey.

Faye Moffett, Managing Partner at Appleby’s Isle of Man office, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome David to the team. He brings a wealth of experience in advising both institutional and private clients on a wide range of international trust business, experience which will complement the expertise of our global Private Client and Trust team and further strengthen our service to new and existing clients.’

David graduated from the University of St Andrews in 1994 with a first class honours degree and completed his vocational training at London’s College of Law, obtaining a distinction in the Legal Practice Course. He trained at Stevens & Bolton in the UK, joining the firm’s tax and trusts practice in 1999, and moved to the trusts group of Walkers in 2005, working in both Cayman and Jersey.

He is a Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), and has wide-ranging experience in the trust field, including advising on the establishment of complex trust structures, reserved powers trusts, PTCs, the powers and obligations of trustees, the rights of beneficiaries and the functions of protectors and enforcers.

David said: ‘Joining a prestigious firm such as Appleby, with its presence in leading international financial centres worldwide, is an exciting opportunity. I’m looking forward to working alongside the trust teams across Appleby’s global network, sharing my knowledge with clients and colleagues, and helping to grow the firm’s trust law practice in the Isle of Man.’
