Mannin Retail has won the tender to operate post offices services in Ramsey, it's just been announced.
It means the existing service will relocate to the town's Spar convenience store - and follows the failure of a community campaign to keep the Post Office in the old courthouse building.
The transfer is to take place in the spring of 2016 after what's described as 'extensive building work' to accommodate services in the Spar shop.
Mannin Retail's managing director Peter Whittaker says: 'We are pleased that our proven track record of delivering consistently high standards of customer service has been recognised once again by Isle of Man Post Office. We take our commitment to local communities very seriously and look forward to bringing that same excellent range of postal services and convenience to the
people of Ramsey.'
He said that of the eight staff, four had accepted redeployment elsewhere within the Post Office and all affected staff would have the opportunity to work at the new premises.
Isle of Man Post Office Chairman talks to Paul Moulton about the decision.
