Members of Southern 100 Racing recently spent a social evening at the Queens Hotel in Laxey where Chairman, Phil Taubman received a cheque for ?800.00 from Fred Adlem on behalf of Mine Host, staff and Patrons of the Queens Hotel in Laxey.
The very generous donation is to be used to help in fulfilling the monies required to pay the balance on the new mobile Grandstand that the club purchased this year after a major fund raising effort to improve spectator facilities at the Billown Course.
The Derek Nicholson Diamond Jubilee Grandstand arrived on the Island just prior to start of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Southern 100 International Diamond Jubilee Road Races at the beginning of July and was well received by the fans and enthusiasts that took advantage of the new facility based towards the end of the Castletown By-Pass, one of the most spectacular parts Official Communications Partner of the course.
Southern 100 Racing Chairman, Phil Taubman on receiving the cheque said: ‘ On behalf of all involved with the Southern 100 how amazed and overwhelmed I am at the generosity of the Licensee, staff and customers of the Queens Hotel, Laxey in accepting this cheque which will go as requested towards the cost of the new mobile Grandstand which Southern 100 racing purchased and received in time for our Diamond Jubilee Races this July.
‘Your continued support over the last number of years is much appreciated and the club are deeply indebted to you all.’ Phil concluded.
