Ramsey Town Commissioners urge tenants to observe payment obligations

by isleofman.com 30th September 2015
Ramsey Town Commissioners is reminding tenants to keep up their rental payments after the local authority obtained a possession order for one of its properties as a result of rent debt.

Lead member for housing and property Anthony Harmer said: ‘The Commissioners make every effort to work with tenants to help them manage any arrears they may incur and re-establish regular rent payments. There are, however, instances, albeit very few, when we are obliged to seek a possession order.

‘Public sector tenancy agreements require rent payments to be made weekly in advance. The Commissioners would urge any tenant finding themselves in difficulty with paying their rent to contact us as soon as possible so we can work out a mutually acceptable payment plan. The Commission will then avoid having to seek a possession order and incurring the rate-borne expense of legal action.’
