The staff of Castletown based firm Optimus Fiduciaries Limited have been busy baking cakes for today’s MacMillan coffee morning in which they are raising money for the cancer charity.
“It has been great morning of eating cake and raising money for charity” said Nikki Creer, client administrator and organiser of the coffee morning, “there was an amazing selection of Victoria sponge, caramel shortbread, cheesecake, chocolate cake, brownies and crispy cakes - needless to say, there is not much left.”
Titled the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, it is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. Asking people all over the UK to host their own Coffee Mornings, donations on the day are made to Macmillan. Last year alone they raised ?25 million and this year they are aiming to raise even more.
“This is a fantastic charity and we are really pleased with the enthusiasm and commitment from our staff in raising the profile of the charity and supporting both by baking and donating to the charity” said Maureen Quayle, Director in Optimus. “There are definitely some contenders in our office for the next series of The Great British Bake-Off.”
This continues Optimus’s drive to host a series of community based events and this follows the staff of Optimus painting the railings at Poulsom Park last month.
