Archie Elliott, 11, and eight-year-old David Livsey, right, are pictured with Alice — also known as assistant librarian Verity Charlesworth — after winning the Summer Reading Scheme top prizes at the Family Library.

A final tea party was held to celebrate the end of this year’s reading scheme, which had a Wonderland theme. There were activities throughout the summer to celebrate the scheme and participants were asked to read at least six books. Archie and David each won a WH Smith voucher, box of practical jokes and a certificate.

Librarian in charge Mary Cousins said: ‘The party was a lovely end to this year’s scheme. Well done to everyone who took part.
‘We’re now back into the swing of things with our regular activities and workshops at the library.’

The library is next to the children’s playground in Westmoreland Road, Douglas.
