Silver Medal for Lesley at National Field Archery Championships

by isleofman.com 23rd September 2015
Bowderyn Vannin Club archers Lesley and Rodger Sleight competed in the National Field Archery Society (NFAS) National Championships at the weekend. The two day competition was held on the Graythwaite Estate on the shores of Lake Windermere.

Over 400 archers competed in the Championships. Lesley finished second in the Ladies American Flatbow class and Rodger thirteenth in the Men’s’ Primitive Bow class. Each of the two day courses consisted of 40 targets; a mixture of 3D’s and paper faces. The targets were positioned in a beautiful setting of old mixed woodland. It was a challenging course with some well laid targets; lots of hills, slopes and rocks to contend with. Target distances were unmarked but ranged from 5 to 55 metres and the skill of an archer is to estimate the distance.

Anybody interested in field archery can contact Bowderyn Field Archery Club. Details are on the Isle of Man Sports website.
