Manx Advocate John Rimmer is celebrating his listing in one of the legal industry’s most prestigious global listings. His firm, Advocate John Rimmer, has been in operation for just over one year yet has already been recommended in the Private client, trusts and tax practice area for the Isle of Man. In addition, John is listed in Legal 500’s 2015 elite "Leading lawyers" list and as a leading individual in the same practice area.
Since 1998, The Legal 500 has been analysing the capabilities of law firms to determine where the industries best talent can be found. Conducting research on a global scale, The Legal 500 assesses the strengths and weaknesses of law firms in over 100 jurisdictions, and offers yearly global rankings based on cutting edge data. The listings are internationally renowned as a sign of cutting edge innovation in terms of legal advice, and are a truly global standard of recognition.
John qualified as a solicitor in England in 1993. After practising in London, he moved to the Isle of Man and qualified as an advocate in 2000. He started practising independently in 2014. John is the only Manx lawyer listed in Citywealth’s Honours List for the UK and Crown Dependencies (2013) and has also been listed by ‘Who’s Who in the Law’ in their global top 10 international estate planning lawyers, and amongst the Most Highly Regarded Individuals for offshore litigation in 2014.
John’s own private practice, Advocate John Rimmer, was established in May 2014 and specialises in both contentious and non-contentious matters concerning the creation, administration, variation and termination of private trusts, commercial trusts, charitable trusts, estate planning, wills, probate and the administration of estates, foundation and family governance and the protection of family wealth. Just last year John was again listed in the Legal Who’s Who, where he was described as the “go-to guy” on the Isle of Man and recognising him as one of the world’s leading practitioners in his field.
Commenting on his nomination, John said: “I am very happy to have been recognised by The Legal 500. They conduct their research on a global scale and I’m incredibly proud to have been listed for my work when the competition is of such a high standard. It is especially rewarding to me because they take into account customer reviews. I have always sought to deliver the best possible service to clients, and it’s good to know I’m on the right track. I thank every one of my clients, past or present, and any other professionals who took the time to be interviewed by The Legal 500: it means a great deal to me. My vision in establishing my new firm last year was to deliver outstanding services to private clients and charities. I am overwhelmed by the support that I have received since then. The listing in The Legal 500 encourages me to work at developing that further, and to continue to improve the service.”
