Stalwart of farming industry dies

by isleofman.com 21st September 2015

Manxman John Kennaugh, who was well known as the farming correspondent on Manx Radio and chairman of German commissioners, has died after a short illness.

Tributes have been led by Bishop Robert Paterson, who tweeted: 'Very sad to hear of John Kennaugh's death: a great Manxman, broadcaster, farmer, raconteur and Christian'.

Mr Kennaugh's contribution to Manx agriculture was recognised last year when he was presented with life membership of the Manx National Farmers' Union. He was a former president of the MNFU.

Mr Kennaugh was the longest serving member of German commissioners, having first been elected more than 40 years ago. He was also Captain of the Parish.
