Beach Buddies is teaming up with the Great British Beach Clean campaign this coming weekend, when it joins forces with the Marine Conservation Society’s annual event across the country.
It’s the third time that Beach Buddies has been involved in the campaign, which has 150 different events across the British Isles over the weekend.
The Isle of Man event is being hosted by Beach Buddies at Fisher’s Hill on Saturday morning at 10.30am.
Beach Buddies will be recording all the items collected on Saturday, as part of the MCS survey, which analyses trends in marine litter and produces an in-depth report afterwards. As always, Beach Buddies will be providing all the necessary equipment, including litter pickers, gloves and bin bags. We will recycle as much of the materials collected as possible.
• Beach Buddies runs team beach cleaning sessions every weekend, lasting a maximum of 90 minutes. All ages are welcome and all the necessary equipment is provided by the charity, with all items removed by Beach Buddies, and recycled where possible. We are very grateful to the sponsors who make this possible. These include AFD Software, Peel Charity Shop, SITA, Offshore Public Relations, WDS Limited, Celton Manx, the Department of Infrastructure, The Scott Trust, Isle of Man Photos, The Elizabeth Clucas Trust, The Society for the Preservation of the Manx Countryside, Blythe Financial, Aston International, Charlie’s Mum and Dad, Zero Waste Mann, Ramsey Grammar School, Andy Kerruish, Lloyds Bank, Bobby Sadler Agricultural, Santander, Merrill Lynch, Douglas Rotary, Cains, Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, Zurich, Douglas Town Council, Shoprite and Juan Knight OffRoad.
