Lloyds Bank rallies troops for Charity Commando Challenge

by isleofman.com 17th September 2015
Lloyds Banking Group and Laser-Mayhem joined forces to host the Charity Commando Challenge, pitting local businesses to compete against each other on the battlefield to raise vital funds for Rebecca House and The Royal British Legion, Douglas Branch.

Across July and August, six businesses across the Island were drawn together to be crowned victor of the Lloyds Bank Charity Commando Challenge. To be victorious, the corporate armies fought against each other on the battleground with the winners of three separate heat events progressing to the final. Throughout the event all soldiers were tested through their shooting ability, observational skills and how well they could work as a team in different missions. The final three teams (Crowe Morgan, Lloyds Bank and Thomas Miller) battled it out in the final, with Thomas Miller crowned victorious.

Neil Birchenough of Thomas Miller said, “When given the opportunity to join in the fundraising for two great causes, we couldn’t resist. Lee Corlett from Lloyds Bank and Carl Underwood from Laser-Mayhem did a great job in gathering interest and ensured all who attended had great fun. We at Thomas Miller look forward to next year’s event and have every confidence that it will continue to be a growing success.”

A fantastic ?1800 was raised to split evenly to help both the care of children with life threatening/limiting conditions within Rebecca House and to provide lifelong support to armed forces veterans and their families. Both Lloyds Bank & Laser Mayhem hope to continue this event annually; increasing interest to raise further proceeds for charity.

Lee Corlett of Lloyds Banking Group said, “As a bank at the heart of our local community, we continually strive to help raise funds and awareness for local charities. Laser-Mayhem demonstrated the same passion and through this we were able to deliver a hugely successful event. Thank you to all who attended, our attention will now turn to ensuring next year’s is bigger and better.”
