New Sub Postmaster appointed at St Johns

by isleofman.com 14th September 2015
Isle of Man Post Office is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Rob Knighton as the new sub postmaster of St John’s Post Office due to the forthcoming retirement of Ms Rita Robinson.

Rita has been the sub postmistress for 9 years and will retire at the end of September when Mr Knighton will take over the reins of the post office, while Rita will continue to run the grocery business which operates alongside.

The recruitment process sought expressions of interest in running the St John’s office before the appointment of the new sub postmaster was made. Mr Knighton will continue as the sub postmaster of Ballasalla Post Office, which he has run for 12 years, in addition to taking on the St John’s office. He comes to the role with a wealth of knowledge and experience in both the retail business and the postal industry.

Over the years Rita has provided the St John’s community with a wide range of postal services, which have all been delivered to a very high standard. She has also built an excellent rapport with her customers and provided a reliable service.

Graham Cregeen MHK, Chairman Isle of Man Post Office said: “I am delighted Rob Knighton is expanding his business after successfully running the post office in Ballasalla for a number of years. I wish him all the very best with this additional office in St John’s.”

When the handover takes place on September 30, Rob will continue to offer the same range of postal and retail services as provided by Rita from foreign currency, ReDirect, KeepSafe, vehicle licensing and benefit payments to banking facilities.
