The Manx Labour Party has sent its best wishes to new Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn.
Chairman David Cretney MLC said: 'We believe it is perfectly possible for the Isle of Man Government to maintain good relations with the UK Labour Party whilst he is leader by understanding and discussing each other's positions on the important issues of mutual
interest.'
He said Manx party members were meeting to draw up their 2016 general election manifesto when the leadership result came through and it was agreed to send its best wishes to Corbyn. The party has written to him to say: 'Although we are not affiliated to the UK party, we have many values in common. We hope that good relations between the Labour Party and the Isle of Man will be maintained during your period of leadership.'
