A specialist team of divers will assess the damage to the sewage outfall pipe at Peel beach on Monday.
In the meantime, members of the public are being advised to 'exercise caution' after a leak reduced the bathing water quality from 'good' to 'poor' standard.
Chairman of Manx Utilities, Alf Cannan MHK said the specialist divers are not available until after the weekend, adding: 'We remain committed to correcting this issue as soon as we possibly can. In the longer term, the second phase of the Regional Sewage Treatment Strategy will see Peel sewage treated and screened to modern standards.'
Manx Utilities says it will continue to keep people informed. There's been criticism from Friends of the Earth which said no warnings were issued despite the problem being identified a week ago.
