Never, Never, Stop Reading!

by isleofman.com 10th September 2015

Over 3,000 children’s books flew out of The Harvey Briggs Onchan Library this summer as children took up ‘The Never Stop Reading Challenge’. Alongside all that reading, children found time to join Neverland themed activities such as Indian Camp, Mermaid’s Cove, Skull Rock and a Lost Boys Hunt. The Lost Boys were all created by local artist Quinn Shipton, who illustrated the Peter Pan inspired event especially for the library.

Children also got creative with Pirate Ship Colouring and Neverland in a Box Competitions. Clare Gerrard and Wendy Ranft-Gerber from Old Mutual International joined the Chairman of Onchan District Commissioners, Robin Turton, at a prize presentation at the library last Thursday.

Clare Gerrard from Old Mutual International commented: “We have been delighted to support the annual reading challenge for the last 8 years, and even in this world of digital, books are timeless and still hold their own. Well done to everyone that took part in this years’ challenge – we hope to see you back again next year.”
