The specialist manufacturing company DLP Limited, based in Union Mills, has stepped in to sponsor this weekend’s Six Nations Veterans Table Tennis Championships.
DLP, which is the market leader in the provision of accessible bathroom and kitchen solutions for people with mobility and disability needs, is already a major supporter of table tennis in the Island, as the main sponsor of the Isle of Man Table Tennis League.
This year’s annual Six Nations Championships are based at the NSC in Douglas. Teams in various age group categories, from over 40s to over 70s, represent England, Wales, Guernsey, Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man.
The championships began in 1997, and have been held in the Isle of Man on three previous occasions, in 1998, 2003 and 2009.
Tim Baker, senior executive director of DLP Limited, said, “The sport of table tennis is an inclusive sport in which participation is growing in all age ranges on the Isle of Man – including amongst older members of the community.
“We are delighted to offer our support for the Six Nations Veterans championships, and are very much looking forward to the weekend’s competition.”
The weekend’s social events include a presentation dinner at the Empress Hotel in Douglas on Saturday, and conclude with an informal fun event, with a Tex-Mex Tenpin Night at Surestrike in Ramsey.
The championships begin with team events on Friday and Saturday, with individual events on Saturday afternoon (doubles) and Sunday (singles). Spectators are warmly welcomed (admission is free).
