by isleofman.com 9th September 2015
Audit, tax, and advisory firm KPMG Isle of Man has announced the appointment of Micky Swindale to Director with effect from 1 October 2015.

After training with Arthur Anderson in Manchester, Micky joined KPMG on the Island in 1997. She moved into Advisory Services in 2003 after a brief period with Zurich Financial Services, and assumed management responsibility for the department when she was appointed as an Associate Director in 2010. Since then, she has recently spent two years as the interim Managing Director of KPMG Gibraltar, but has now returned to the Island full time.

Micky has oversight responsibility for KPMG’s Advisory practice, which deploys their exceptional collection of locally based specialists to deliver services in the following areas;

• Deal Advisory (covering restructuring, transaction services and restructuring)
• IT Advisory (key to KPMG’s particular focus on the eBusiness sector)
• Regulatory & Compliance
• Internal Audit
• People & Change

It is in the last of these areas that Micky’s own specialisms lie - she is responsible for the operation of KPMG’s popular online remuneration and benefits survey across a number of jurisdictions and sectors, and has delivered performance management services and business development skills training to a number of boards and management teams locally and in other offshore jurisdictions.

Micky is also responsible for building new markets and relationships for KPMG across all its service lines, including its 70-strong audit team and 20-strong tax team. As part of this role, she take a key role in organising the eGaming Summits KPMG run in the Isle of Man and Gibraltar each year.

Aside from her role at KPMG, 2015 has also seen her appointed as the new President of the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce for a two year term, an appointment publicly marked by an extremely well received speech at the Villa Marina.

Commenting on her appointment to Director, Micky enthused: “I am very proud and excited about by the move, particularly coming as it does at a time of significant growth for the firm. Whilst I am sure it will bring its challenges, I have great confidence for the years ahead because I am joining a leadership team with a singularly successful mixture of skills, talents, and personalities.”

Mike Fayle followed to say: “We have worked hard over the years to build a culture at KPMG where our people feel empowered, supported, and encouraged to achieve at the highest levels, and have been rewarded with a wealth of home grown talent coming up through the ranks. As a result, Micky is the fourth appointment to Director we have made in as many years, as we build a new generation of leaders to sustain the firm’s growing success. We are extremely lucky to have her on the team.”
