Vulcan visit

by isleofman.com 4th September 2015

Ronaldsway airport is expecting crowds of sightseers on Saturday afternoon when a Vulcan aircraft is hoping to take part in a fly-past over the island's airport.

The event is scheduled for 2pm although this is dependent on weather and other operational issues.

Vulcans came into service with the RAF in 1956 and where a major part of the UK's defence system until they were retired in 1979.

Since the Shoreham airshow crash in August more restrictions have been placed on aircraft taking part in displays flying over crowds.

The last one involving a Vulcan was in 2012, when a plane suffered engine failure at take-off from Robin Hood airport in Doncaster.

The Department of Infrastructure are reminding drivers to adhere to all the parking restriction that are in place around the airport.
