Animal Welfare: Committee to hear from petitioner and others

The Select Committee on Animal Welfare (Petition for Redress) will be holding an oral evidence session on the afternoon of Monday 7th September 2015 at 2.30 pm in the Legislative Council Chamber. Evidence will be taken from Ms Roseleen Harrison, Mr Walter Gilbey and Mr J R K Green.

Oral evidence sessions are held in public and recorded by Hansard. Members of the public are welcome to attend. The evidence may also be heard through the Listen (or Listen again) facility on the Tynwald website: www.tynwald.org.im.

The Committee was set up by Tynwald in response to a Petition for Redress presented by Ms Roseleen Harrison at St John’s on 7th July 2014 requesting that Tynwald consider the introduction of animal welfare legislation in the Isle of Man equivalent to that contained in the UK Animal Welfare Act 2006.

The Select Committee’s Members are Mrs Kate Beecroft MHK (chair), Mrs Brenda Cannell MHK and Mr David Cretney MLC.
