Organisers of the Manx Grand Prix have issued a statement following the death of 42 year old competitor Dennis Hoffer from Hoogkarspel in Holland.
He was killed in an incident near the 13th milestone during Wednesdays Manx Grand Prix qualifying session, the practice was called off shortly after 7pm as weather conditions deteriorated.
Hoffer was a newcomer to the event but had been a regular racer on European circuits since 2009.
The Isle of Man Festival of Motorcycling has had a difficult week due to bad weather conditions.
Wednesday night saw two incidents near the 13th milestone and the session was red flagged.
Five other riders have also been receiving medical attention, an update has been released on their condition. Yvan Cardona a MGP Newcomer is reported to be unwell in ITU but stable. Adrian Bowman is stable awaiting transfer to a UK hospital. Shaun Evanshas had an elbow injury but was discharged last night. Tom Palmer is said to be comfortable and also awaiting transfer to UK hospital. Ken Davis is comfortable suffering from sustained fractures.
