Members of the public who have had experience of health services whether here on the Island, in the UK or further afield, are being encouraged to become patient and public representatives across a number of forums, committees and groups at Noble’s Hospital.
Noble’s Hospital is continually working to improve the services it offers to patients, staff and the public. To achieve this, patients and members of the public are involved in quality improvements and at the planning stages of any potential service redesign.
Minister for Health and Social Care, Howard Quayle MHK said: “We recognise the role that patient feedback plays in developing health services. We are looking for individuals who are willing to give their time and experience to represent patients and the public across Noble’s Hospital.
“A number of new initiatives are being considered including looking at communication between patients and staff, making sure that the information in our patient leaflets is written in an accessible way and undertaking short surveys in clinical areas.
“These roles are vital to improve and enhance services. Only by getting the right people involved at the right time can we change and then monitor those changes. By having your voice heard you can make a difference to the future provision of healthcare.”
Norman Kneen, Patient and Public Representative said: “Patient and public representatives at Noble’s Hospital have been involved in many projects including customer service training for staff, hand hygiene campaign, nutrition and hydration campaigns, patient safety initiatives and patient experience indicators where they speak with patients about their treatment.
“Groups, forums and committees with patient representation regularly present feedback to senior staff and hospital management.
“We would welcome informal enquiries even if you are unsure whether you wish to become a representative.”
