Manx ambulance service goes on TV

by isleofman.com 26th August 2015

For the next eight weeks a BBC TV crew will be following the lives and action of the Isle of Man Ambulance and Paramedic Service using the latest mini video cameras to capture the action of their day to day work.

The fly-on-the wall TV show 'Countryside 999' has been around the British Isles over three series since 2013 following the emergency services in rural locations revealing how the service protects the public.

Health chiefs are assuring the public that only patients and relatives who have given their consent will be featured and it will not cause any disruption to their job.

The Department of Health and Social Care’s Executive Director of Integrated Care, Dr Iain Kewley, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to lift the lid on the remarkable work of our paramedics and ambulance technicians. The programme will help to raise awareness about the Isle of Man across the UK and will demonstrate the unique challenges of providing high quality and professional services on an Island with a relatively small population.”
