Commissioners introduce Ramsey in Bloom Winners’ tour

by isleofman.com 26th August 2015

Horticultural talent in Ramsey will take centre stage on Sunday August 30 with the inaugural Ramsey in Bloom Winners’ tour.

Introduced by the competition’s organisers Ramsey Town Commissioners, the tour will provide an opportunity to visit every winning garden - from ‘little gems’ to extensive plots - and meet the owners.

An accompanying booklet, available from Ramsey town hall and library, also online at ramsey.gov.im, features photographs of the winning garden in each category and a voting form to find the ‘people’s choice’ top three gardens. (Closing date September 8).

Parks and leisure lead member Stephen Rand said: ‘Ramsey in Bloom reveals exceptional talent every year, with entrants going to tremendous lengths to introduce vibrant colour into our town. The winners’ tour will provide an opportunity to showcase these outstanding gardens to a wider audience and perhaps inspire even more gardeners to enter next year’s contest.’

The Ramsey in Bloom Winners’ tour is on Sunday August 30 from 10am to 4pm. There is no charge for the tour, nor for refreshments at the Kerroo Glass sheltered housing complex on Lezayre Road, the tour’s suggested final destination, although donations to the Kerroo Glass garden fund are always welcomed.

Judging by the Commission’s head gardener Bobby Cunningham and local horticulturalist Pat Goodway took place in July. Ramsey in Bloom winners will be invited to a prize presentation at Ramsey town hall this autumn.
