New website highlights dog friendly venues

by isleofman.com 19th August 2015

Local dog owner Tom Brew has set up a website to advertise dog friendly places on the Isle of Man.

It follows a recent change in government policy to allow dogs into food premises.

Tom said: 'This pragmatic approach by Government has really been embraced by Manx businesses, and as a dog owner myself, I wanted to create a website that would allow us all to find somewhere to take our dogs after a good walk in the hills.'

The site - dogfriendly.im - features more than a hundred venues and is designed to enable people to find, rate and review pubs, cafes, restaurants, accommodation and shops around the island.

Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Richard Ronan said: 'Our decision to allow premises serving food the freedom to welcome dogs, provided that strict hygiene standards are maintained, has been warmly greeted. The website will allow local and visiting dog owners to easily check the policy of the pub, cafe, restaurant or accommodation they are heading to.'
