A memorial garden is taking shape after six stones each weighing over half a ton were craned over Noble's Hospital and installed in the courtyard next to the hospital chapel.
On September 5, 14 donor families and representatives from the NHS Blood and Transplant team will attend a private opening ceremony performed by Health Minister Howard Quayle.
The garden is the culmination of 16 months of fund raising. The main stones are etched with local landmarks and each organ donor - whose family have requested it - will have their own memorial stone with their name and age on it.
A spokesman said: 'We will now be able to offer families a donor stone to be placed in the garden to recognise and give renewed pride for the gift of life their loved one has given.'
